von Trapp Family and CARE History
Over 70 years ago, the Trapp Family Austrian Relief Inc. sent thousands of tons of aid to post-World War II Austria through assistance with the newly formed Cooperative for American Remittance to Europe (CARE). CARE at the time consisted of 22 American charities working to help with post-World War II relief efforts for millions in need of food and supplies. Today CARE International has become the Cooperative for Assistance & Relief Everywhere, leading one of the largest efforts against poverty and providing relief and assistance on the basis of need, regardless of race, creed, or nationality.
